Left- Jason Linn facing off at Staples - Four months ago, the Kings and Blues would play game 1 of the 2 game NHL Arena Series for 2000-01 season in Rock the Pond 2000. In the Pond game, even being outshot 42-28, the Kings edged the Blues in a tight game, winning 7-5. In that game, Jason Linn would lead the Kings with a hat trick. The Initiation B Blues suprized the Kings in giving them a run, setting up the Staples Center for revenge, or domination.

The Staples Center, located in Downtown Los Angeles, held its first Hockey game October 20, 1999, when the Los Angeles Kings tied the Boston Bruins. A season later, Staples Center was named Arena of the Year, and announced that it will host the 2002 NHL All-Star Game. This season wrapped up the 2nd season of the Staples Center, and the Disney Ice Kings and Blues played on closing night, following the NHL Los Angeles Kings for the 2000-01 season.
Left- Paul Costello taunting former King Hector Rodriguez - The Kings started off the scoring a little more than half way through the period, when Paul Costello scored on the Blues netminder Frank Suwalski. Less than a minute later, Blues All-Star Matt Steiner would score, while falling down, making the game 1-1. Steiners goal reminded the Kings of what happened at the Pond, where the Kings could argubly be said that they were outplayed even though winning the game. To make the game even more interesting, and to push the Blues over the Kings in this game, Captain and General Manager Dave Webb added a snyper--son of one of the current Blues John Davidson, with Troy Davidson. With Jared Anderson on the bench along with Webb due to injurys, the Blues needed to replace their scoring talent, which is a hard thing to do in replacing Anderson. Anderson led the Blues and the league last season in points. He continued his presence this season, even when playing defence, until injury hit more than half way through the season.
Right- Snypers for both teams Donny Dymond and Dave Webb Jr. tie each other up. Dymond was able to get free to score just a few goals. - After the game was tied 1-1, the Kings got together to play some serious hockey. With 6 minutes to go in the game, Dave Young would score, and the Kings never looked back from there. A few minutes later, Donny Dymond would tally one up, and at the end of the first period, it was the Disney Ice Kings 3, the Disney Ice Blues 1. Before the game, when injured players turned to coaches Webb and Anderson organized their stragety for the game, it was mentioned that their game plan was to take away all possible scoring chances by putting the Blues top guy Dave Webb Jr, and Troy Davidson out when Kings leading scorer Jason Linn was on the ice. It was Linn that scored 3 goals at the Arrowhead Pond the last time these two matched up. They might have stopped Linn in scoring goals against them, but they could stop his play setting passes, and it was his linemate Donny Dymond that they needed to watch out for. After scoring the last goal in the first period, Dymond would score the next two goals in the second period, giving him the hat trick and a Kings 5-1 lead. Costello netted his second goal of the game to end the second period for the Kings, as they were in cruise control going into the third period.
Left- The handshake as the goalscorers for each team pass each other. - The Disney Ice Blues have dominted their league, by winning virtually every game that they have played. They haven't just won those games, they've dominated those games. However, as of late, the Blues have been in a small spin by tying and losing a game as of recent games. This was not the time for them to go into a mini slump, by facing one of the top teams in the Novice C division. Dymond and Linn would2 continue their show, as they would click again. Dymond scored his 4th goal 9 minutes into the third period. It was 8Linn's fourth assist, which three of them came on Dymond goals. Long time King Dave Avila, whose season was cut short this year but will be returning next season, got on the board. And Linn, after 4 assists, would finally net a goal, wrapping up 3 goals per period for the Kings, as they rolled over the Blues 9-1. The Blues only had 3 shots in the third period for a three period total of 17 shots. At the Arrowhead Pond, the Blues outshot the Kings by a wide margin, posting up 42 shots.
