Kings Break 9 Year Record with 13th Win in a Row

March 25, 2007- The Anaheim Ice Kings broke their all-time team record with wins in a row-12, that was set in their first year of play. 1998-1999, the Kings put up a 19-2 record, with 12 of those win consecutive. On the 25th day of March, 2007 the Kings broke the record, with their 13th win a row.

Dan Coleman Right: Dan Coleman has been missing action as of late, missing 7 games this season. It was a nice welcome back as he made his return to the Kings line-up, as he has been able to be productive in the time he has played. Coleman has 14 points in the 9 games played this year - The record was set against a team that threw in the towel before the game even started. The Cromgas sit in 11th place, and 1 up from the bottom of the cellar posting only 4 wins in 14 games. Earlier in the season, they were shutout by the Kings 2-0 which ironically began the win streak following their only loss of the season. But the Cromags gave the Kings a good fight, just like in the first game. However they were unable to muster up a goal in the two games againt the Kings this season, they produced several scoring chances and was fed by the play of their goaltender, Mike Preston. Preston made several good saves that kept the Kings off the board and his team in the game. However in the end, the Kings were too much for the Cromags, who dropped their 11th game of the season.

The Kings came roaring out of the gate early to put the game out of reach as quickly as possible. Dave Young got the scoring started 4 minutes into the game, with a shot from the slot that ended a nice passing play with Brewster and Tannenbaum. A few minutes later Jared Anderson blew a blast from the point that gave him his 5th goal of the season and a Kings 2-0 lead. A minute later, the Kings built a comanding 3-0 lead when Stefano Palazzolo wacked home a rebound that slid behind Preston's legs towards the net. It was Palazzolo's 4th goal and 7th point in the 10 games played this season, while the assist credited to Kevin Costello keeps him in the running for top assist leader in the league, who happens to be older brother Paul with 20. At the end of the first period, the Kings built a 3-0 lead.

After no scoring in the second period, the Kings added one more goal before time expired and a Kings victory. Kevin Costello got his second point of the night in style. He went coast to coast, from the Kings zone to the Cromags, went around Preston and tucked home the puck like if he was Anze Kopitar, putting him second on the team in goals (with Mike Goodey) with lucky 13. The Kings dominate, shutting out the Cromags for the second time his season with a 4-0 victory.

GAME NOTES:
For the first time this season, captain Paul Costello was absent from the game. In his previous game, P. Costello set the 400 mark for points as a King and jumped into first place in points with 43. However 2 more games played with 6 points by Derek Goldstein of the Waste and a Costello missed game saw Paul move back to second in the league in points, trailing by 5... Kevin Costello got back on track with a goal and assist against the Cromags. Ironically in one of his brothers biggest games saw lil brother end his 11 game scoring streak. Kevin had 7 goals and 13 assists for 20 points in the 11 games... Lennie Lopez continues to take charge in the league. After posting his second shutout of the season, Lopez leads the league in Goals Against with a 2.71 average... Defenseman Tracy Lytle officially returns to the line-up full time after going through foot surgery last November. Right Wing Stefano Palazzolo will be placed from the Active Roster to the Reserve Roster, but will more than likely see ice time in the remaining games of the season.
