February 9, 2017- The teams are set. The Kings will be facing off against Slap Richards for the 2017 Championship. The Kings are yet to defeat Slap Richards in game action (0-2-1), regular season and playoffs. Slap Richards comes into the game with an impressive 21-3 regular season record dating back to the Spring season. However during the Spring, the division favorites didn't post a win, going 0-4 and opening the door for the Kings, who captured the Spring championship vs. Genterra.

This season, Slap Richards showed their same regular season dominance, taking the division once again with a 10-2 record. However this time, Slap Richards would not be beaten in the playoffs, posting a 4-0 record. Including playoffs, Slap Richards have posted a 25-7 record the last 2 seasons. In comparison, the Kings are not too far behind. In the same time span, the Kings have posted a 23-6-4, with 1 championship.

Slap Richards will have to stop one of the league's hottest lines with Frankie Negrette, Mike Goodey and Stefano Palazzolo. Combined, the three have put up 30 points in 4 games. "Our line has been gelling together; getting a good amount of points" comments Mike Goodey. "We are successful because all of our other lines have also been playing well. We are getting contributions from all the lines, points or not." Whether is one line grinding and wearing the other team down, every line has made an impact.

The success of the Kings in the past few seasons and playoffs has been contributed to what each player brings on the ice. "Its a team effort, we're successful because of the talent balance between all the lines. No team can match up to us player for player," commented Frankie Negrette. What we have seen on every line, every position, is that the match-up the Kings put together when all three lines are going, the they are a very, very difficult team to play against.

The one time these two teams played in the playoffs a few weeks ago, Ryan Cordes didn't get a full period out of them. "We need to have every one on the bench and play our game." Cordes commented. "When we come to play, there isn't a single team that can beat us in the league." There is truth to that statement from Cordes. When the Kings skated with 7 skaters against Slap Richards in the playoffs, they ran out of steam and were defeated with 2 late goals in the third. Yet the Kings played 3 dominant games with a full line-up, and were pretty unstoppable.

At the same time, Slap Richards is a very good team that has some offensive weapons that the Kings have seen before. They have shown that their division leading goals against proves that they are difficult to score against--and their game edgy game style doesn't necessarily play into the hands of the Kings to well. What does this mean? We are looking for one heck of a championship Sunday.
